63 dairy farmers have joined forces and founded the company Biogas Wipptal together with the University of Bozen, the University of Turin, Kellerei Tramin and the company Zunhammer.
The purpose is to reduce the nitrate pollution per hectare of agricultural land and to produce a fertilizer of the highest quality, odorless and usable in vineyards and orchards. In addition, the maintenance of the standard of living of the dairy farmers in the mountain region, who do not have to reduce the number of livestock in order to comply with the environmental regulations in force, should be achieved.
For the construction side of the Biogas Wipptal project, AGRU Kunststofftechnik GmbH supplied AGRU-Ultra Grip 2.0 mm black HDPE CPL, HPDE Pipes and AGRU HDPE welding rod.
The ceilings and walls are lined for protection of the concrete structure from gases.
During the fermentation process methane, H2S und CO2 gases will occur. This gases can destroy the concrete structure and reduce the service lifetime of the tank. To safe the concrete structure against the methane gas, the roof area and the upper part of the wall area where lined with in total 5.000 m2 concrete protective liners.
The CPL and the waterstop profiles were proper installed and welded by the experienced installation company Aqua Umwelttechnik GmbH.
For a faster installation and welding of the CPL, AGRU also supplied a special modified hot wedge welding machine to the installation company.
The whole construction work of the project was done from November 2020 until March 2021.
