AGRU Delivered Sewer Pressure Pipeline for for Lake Wörthersee

The Austrian construction company Granit Gesellschaft m. b. H., with its Civil Engineering Carinthia branch, is responsible for the "Sewer Pressure Pipeline in Velden at Lake Wörthersee" project. In the first construction phase, approximately 500 meters of the new pressure pipeline with an outer diameter of 450 mm in SDR 17 will be installed. The entire pipeline has a total length of 1,168 meters, overcomes a pumping height of approximately 70 meters, and transports a flow rate of 100 l/s.

The pressure pipeline of the Velden I main pumping station, which has been in operation since 1966, no longer meets modern requirements for safe operation due to its age and insufficient dimensions. Therefore, the Wastewater Association Wörthersee West decided to reconstruct the pressure pipeline. The goal is to operate pumping stations I and II alternately with the same pumping capacity and to compensate for the failure of one station with the other.

The engineering firm HPC IBK GmbH from Villach was commissioned with the planning, tendering, and on-site supervision of the new pressure pipeline. The overall project is being implemented between 2024 and 2026, with the first construction phase currently being carried out by Granit.

The AGRULINE PE 100-RC piping system – Operational Safety and Durability

Due to the combination of flow rate (100 l/s), pumping height (70 m), and total pipeline length (1,168 m), a pressure pipeline with minimal friction losses was required. The AGRULINE PE 100-RC piping system was selected as it optimally meets these requirements. All components of the pressure pipeline were produced by AGRU Kunststofftechnik GmbH and delivered directly to the construction site.

Efficient Installation and On-Site Training

The dimensional accuracy and precision of the AGRULINE components enable quick and reliable installation. The flexibility of the PE material allows for changes in direction without additional fittings. Comprehensive welding and installation training, conducted by AGRU supervisors Thomas Joo and Felix Baumgartner, supported the construction personnel in maintaining high-quality standards. The precision of the sockets and the high fit accuracy of the peeled pipe ends eliminated the need for additional rounding devices, significantly simplifying the installation process.

Technical Advantages and Economic Efficiency

The AGRULINE PE 100-RC piping system impresses with its high long-term strength, resistance to crack growth, and insensitivity to seismic loads. The special material properties enable installation without a sand bed, reducing installation costs further. The smooth inner surfaces of the pipes minimize deposits and optimize flow characteristics, enhancing the overall efficiency of the wastewater pipeline.

Positive Feedback from the Wastewater Association and Planning Office

Representatives of the Wastewater Association Wörthersee West and the planning office inspected the project and were impressed by the technical execution and quality of the AGRULINE system. With the AGRULINE PE 100-RC piping system, AGRU offers a future-proof and cost-efficient solution that meets the highest requirements for wastewater infrastructure.
