The cooperation between the industry and the HTL Steyr within the scope of diploma theses is an important factor in the training of young technicians. In the course of handing over the measuring instruments, the possibility of further cooperation was also discussed. In 2014 the HTL Steyr students Peter Plank and Fabian Lueghamer started the project in cooperation with AGRU. After six months, Fabian Lueghamer handed over his part of the thesis to Lukas Leitner, who completed the project with Peter Plank. The aim of this project was the development of a measuring method and the prototype for the inspection of welded seams for plastic pipe systems which are used in sensitive areas of application. Furthermore, an evaluation software has been programmed for this challenging project, which enables the assessment and documentation of weld seam quality immediately and automatically.

From the very beginning, the diploma students were able to contribute to the work and development of the project and thus successfully demonstrate their acquired knowledge in practice. The HTL Steyr Prof. Dr. Christian Stockinger and Product Engineer Renè Wolflehner from AGRU, acted as supervisors.
