PFA-lined vessels for demanding applications

SEMI-FINISHED PRODUCTS by AGRU

As procedures in the chemical-processing industry become more and more advanced, the demand for high-performance materials increases permanently. The maintenance effort for equipment with insufficient corrosion protection and therefore very limited service life is expensive, labour-intensive, and creates productivity loss leading to a notable decrease in efficiency and safety.

Process equipment nowadays is set up for reliably high performance using proven corrosion protection like AGRU PFA sheets. For this project the German company KVG Kunststoff-Vertriebs KG supplied PFA glass fabric backed sheets to Plasticon China Co., Ltd.

The vessels for handling and containment of highly corrosive and toxic hydrofluoric acid (HF) were constructed using the FRP dual-laminate method. Resistant to high temperatures and even vacuum conditions, this construction method is used by the well-known fabricator Plasticon China Co., Ltd. with great expertise.

The fluoropolymer PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy-polymer) is used widely in the chemical-processing industry and is seen as the state-of-the-art solution for extreme chemical loads and high temperatures.
